According to our Beloved Irene Choate Williams, who has done extensive
work on these lines..."Other than the two men being named Christopher
we really have no evidence between 1642 when one was born and 1676 when
one came to America to satisfy me that we really have the right man..."
"Years ago I spent a lot of time at the TN state library checking
Maryland laws and discussing them with other genealogists there, trying
to determine how old Christopher was by what he received at the end of
his indenture and all I was able to find was that he was over 16. BUT
WOULD HE HAVE BEEN 34 WHEN HE ARRIVED HERE AND NOT HAD ANY CHILDREN
UNTIL 1690 AT THE AGE OF 48????"--Irene Choate Williams

Emigrated to Maryland, USA in 1676
Book of Patents, MHR, Liber 15, folio 504   15 Apr 1676  
  --(CHR. CHOTTE)  one of 30 names.  
  In all 30 transported at the charge of Capt John Boddy, Commander 
  of the good ship "Cecilius", the rights due being proved before
  me the same body.  - CH. Baltitmore
  (On back was written)  Know all men by these presents that I do 
  assign over, unto John Welsh of Anne Arundel Co, 15 of these within 
  specified rights, which are 30 in all as witness my hand 
  24 Jun 1676 - John Boddy
  16 Aug 1676 Warrant then granted to John Welsh of Anne Arundel Co 
  for 800 acres of land due to him by the above assignment from 
  John Boddy.  Warrant then granted to John Boddy for 700 acres of 
  land due to him for transporting  the 14 last mentioned persons 
  into this province to inhabit.
Indentured for 5 yrs, working on the lands of John Welsh.  After the 
  expiration of their term of service these people would become free 
  citizens and entered into the estate of freeman, potential 
  purchasers of plantations and payer of quitrents.

  9 Aug 1681 - Survey and assignment of 11 acres of land, called 
  "Choate's His Chance", in Anne Arundel Co, MD on the south side 
  of Magothy River, at Little Piny Neck Point in the Manor of Anne
  Arundel to Christopher Choates.

  12 Nov 1681 - disbursed 223, 443 lbs of tobacco "for the Publicke 
  good of the same, and to intent the same may be satisified and 
  paid to those persons to whome the same is due"  
  CHR. CHOTT received 174 lbs. (tobacco was used as general currency.)
